Step inside the Apollo 11 Command Module

Take a look inside this 3D scan of the Apollo 11 Command Module “Columbia”, which was created by the Smithsonian Institute to mark the 47th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission, which took Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins to the moon. The three astronauts lived in Columbia during their time in space on the Apollo 11 mission, which launched from Cape Kennedy in July 1969.

The model offers a new insight into Columbia as museum visitors are not allowed to explore the inside of the craft. As well as viewing it in your browser online, the Smithsonian has published data files for 3D printing or for viewing with VR goggles free to the public.
