Fak’ugesi: South Africa’s Digital Innovation Festival
Fak’ugesi is a digital innovation festival held in the creative hub of Braamfontein, Johannesburg in South Africa which runs across August and September. The festival includes workshops, events, talks and conferences that showcase technology and art as well as residencies and an exhibition for featured artists from Africa, India and Europe. This and prior years’ festivals have featured a wide range of topics, including: how we can use mixed reality and Minecraft for urban design and planning, workshops where kids can bring their drawings to life using augmented reality, digital art workshops using the Rasberry Pi to explore the basics of AI and an artist talk and technique exploration for use of data, media and sound in art.
